Sanderstead Community Day

SATURDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 11AM -6PM

Welcome to the 5th annual Sanderstead Community Day.  The aim of the community days are to encourage community cohesion, promote active participation and to promote “shop local” and “use local” mentality for products, services and community groups — and most importantly, have fun!

A lot goes into putting on an event of this size and it wouldn’t be possible without other’s input, time and financial contributions.

So how has this event been funded? All businesses, charities and Community Groups hosting stalls on the day, and advertisers in the booklet, have paid towards the costs of this event.

Special mention to Priscilla’s Tea Room for their additional contributions towards the cost of the event; thank you to Pollard Machin Estate Agents for their for their sponsorship of the stage this year; as well as Aventier for their sponsorship of the Sound Booth; thank you also to our Sanderstead Councillors and The Sanderstead Resident’s Association for their sponsorship towards additional toilets this year; thank you to Simply The Pets, who have sponsored and will be running the Fun Family Dog Show.

Last but by no means least, community volunteers Sue and Colin Cooper from Rotary Club Sanderstead and Selsdon and Mandy and Tim Ashton from Priscilla’s Tea Room who are the hidden gems behind the organisation and co-ordination of Sanderstead Community Day.  Along with their teams for both food service and stewarding, they will be supported by the Croydon Police Cadets.

There are more community groups and activities happening in Sanderstead than I can mention on one page so will just name a few:

  • The Local Scouts and Girl Guiding Groups provide huge opportunities for our children and young people to meet people, gain skills and have amazing experiences both here and abroad.
  • Rotary Club Sanderstead and Selsdon and all the tireless work they do for local and international charities.
  • Priscilla’s Tea Room and their dedication to the local community through social enterprise with social aims at the heart of their work, including the addition of Sanderstead Bakery since the recent closure of Sanderstead’s beloved Brown’s Bakery.
  • Sanderstead Churches Together.
  • Selsdon Little League.

A new voluntary group is coming to Sanderstead soon—Friends of Sanderstead Recreation Ground hope to put our Rec at the centre of people’s minds when it comes to activities, facilities, and nature.  We would like to hear your views on your desired future for our beloved Rec before registering their interests with the Council.
